Margit Palace Office Building

BREEAM ASSESSMENT

From Past Lives to a Greener Future

BREEAM certifications assess the entire life cycle and environmental impact of buildings, including studies on the potential for future functional changes. Margit Palace in Budapest is a fine example of this approach.
The site has a rich history: it was a cemetery in Roman times, a blacksmith’s workshop in the Middle Ages, a coach house from 1869, and later operated as a transformer station from 1953. Today, the five-storey, 17,200 m² Class “A” office building stands as a modern landmark, fully refurbished in 2017. Following the renovation, our client, Adventum Zrt., set the goal of achieving a BREEAM In-Use certification.
In 2019, Realiscon carried out the certification process, resulting in a “Very Good” rating in both Asset Performance (PART 1) and Building Management (PART 2). The measures taken to meet these standards led to measurable improvements, including reduced energy and water consumption, lower communal waste generation, and enhanced quality of services.
