OBI and DM Stores Completed with BREEAM Certification in Kiskunhalas

Commissioned by 3LP-K Ingatlanforgalmazó, a new commercial property was developed in Kiskunhalas, accommodating OBI and DM stores with a total floor area of 5,809 m². The project was completed on a remarkably fast schedule, with construction and handover finished within just one year, in June 2023.
Realiscon was entrusted with managing and consulting on the full BREEAM International New Construction certification process. The challenge was to meet OBI’s sustainability requirements while navigating a framework that is still rarely applied to retail buildings in Hungary. Our role included coordinating the developer, designers, and contractors to ensure that the project was delivered with sustainability principles at its core.
During the project, forward-looking technical improvements were also introduced: the originally planned gas heating system was replaced with heat pumps, enabling the building to operate with lower energy consumption and reduced emissions. The experience gained here is already being applied to the certification of the upcoming OBI store in Debrecen, where the target is to achieve a higher rating level.
