NEW DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT
A New District with a Sustainability Milestone
The Bálint Lake new district development aims to transform the long-abandoned site of a former brick factory and clay mine into a modern, liveable neighbourhood that integrates seamlessly into the city’s fabric. Over the next ten years, the area will be revitalized with residential buildings, commercial units, a hotel, and facilities for recreational purposes, complemented by green parks and community spaces. This development will not only eliminate a long-standing urban scar but also create lasting value in the heart of Törökbálint.
Within this large-scale project, Realiscon is responsible for managing the BREEAM Communities certification process, ensuring that both the planning and implementation meet the highest environmental, social, and economic sustainability standards.
This is a milestone in Hungarian sustainable urban planning: it is the first BREEAM Communities certification in the country to include residential functions within the masterplan. Another unique aspect is that Realiscon has a team member accredited for BREEAM Communities assessments – a rare qualification in the Hungarian market – who also brings extensive experience in certifying different real estate types.
The certification process began in spring 2025, in parallel with the development concept, and is expected to last for approximately two years.
