Sophia Palace Hotel 4-star
HOTEL DEVELOPMENT
Engineering Complexity, Delivering Elegance
The Sophia Palace Hotel development was completed in one of Budapest’s most prominent heritage environments, on Vámház Boulevard, directly opposite the Great Market Hall. Originally built in 1840 in neoclassical style and designed by Ferenc Kasselik, the 1,600 m² listed building—previously used as offices—underwent a comprehensive technical refurbishment and structural reinforcement, resulting in an elegant four-star hotel.
The hotel primarily targets international tourists, offering 28 rooms and 8 suites, complemented by a lobby bar and a breakfast restaurant, delivering a contemporary city-centre hospitality experience.
Realiscon joined the project in autumn 2023, preparing the development concept and preliminary cost estimate for the investor. Construction works commenced in October 2024, during which we provided technical supervision. The project provided an opportunity to apply our experience in the refurbishment and adaptive reuse of heritage buildings. A key challenge during the renovation was ensuring that the ground-floor retail units—including a restaurant and café—remained fully operational throughout the construction period.
Sustainability Inside Historic Walls
As part of the Lara Hotels Group, the Sophia Palace Hotel offers a modern hospitality experience in the heart of Budapest, while preserving the historic character of the building and integrating contemporary sustainability solutions.
