Sophia Palace Hotel 4-star
HOTEL DEVELOPMENT
Engineering Complexity, Delivering Elegance
The Sophia Palace Hotel is being developed in one of Budapest’s most valuable heritage settings, on Vámház Boulevard, directly opposite the Great Market Hall. Built in 1840 and formerly used as offices, the 1,600 m² listed building is undergoing a full technical refurbishment and structural reinforcement to be reborn as an elegant four-star hotel with 36 guest rooms by the end of 2025.
Realiscon was involved from as early as 2023, preparing the development concept and preliminary cost estimate for the investor. During construction, we are responsible for technical supervision and managing the complete certification process under the BREEAM International Non-Domestic Refurbishment scheme. The project allows us to leverage our extensive experience in the renovation and adaptive reuse of heritage buildings. A particular challenge has been ensuring that the ground-floor retail units – including a restaurant and café – remained fully operational throughout the works.
Sustainability Inside Historic Walls
As part of the Lara Hotels Group, the new Sophia Palace Hotel will deliver a modern hospitality experience in the heart of Budapest, uniquely combining the historic character of a heritage building with contemporary sustainability ambitions.
