By late summer 2025 the complete refurbishment and expansion of the SPAR supermarket on the ground floor of the Korzó Shopping Centre in downtown Nyíregyháza was successfully completed.
By incorporating two smaller neighbouring rental units, the sales area grew to 3,000 m² and the store layout became clearer and more convenient for both customers and staff. Work began in early June with the demolition of internal walls, followed by the construction of new partitions, replacement of floor finishes and the modernisation of the mechanical systems. An energy-efficient heating and cooling system was installed to reduce energy use in the long term. The store’s range of services also expanded: a new SPAR To Go unit was created, opening directly onto the shopping centre’s busy ground-floor concourse to serve both SPAR shoppers and mall visitors with fresh bakery products and ready-to-eat meals.
Realiscon provided technical supervision throughout the project. A key challenge was carrying out the refurbishment in an operating shopping centre, which
required special attention—together with the contractors—to minimise noise and dust and to schedule each phase so that the tight deadline could be met.
Store furnishing and stocking began in parallel with the finishing works, enabling the renewed supermarket to open on schedule at the end of summer, offering a more modern environment and an expanded range of services for shoppers in the city centre.
At the same time, refurbishment of the SPAR supermarket in Ajka was also underway, where we likewise provided technical supervision. The renewed Ajka store reopened at the end of July.
