Biodiversity project for BMW Manufacturing in Debrecen
In Debrecen, a unique project is underway: BMW Manufacturing has launched an ambitious initiative to restore land to nature and create a biodiverse environment around its new factory. For Realiscon’s Debrecen office, this represents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a development where industry and ecology meet in harmony.
Realiscon is responsible for Construction Management, Technical Supervision, Design Management, Quality Management, and BIM Management. The works started in March 2025, with the aim of designing not just green spaces, but a living ecosystem.
The scope of the project is extensive, including:
- Shelterbelts (nine zones protecting against wind and erosion)
- Miyawaki forests (fast-growing, diverse tree clusters)
- Wildflower meadows and bee pastures
- Insect hotels and bird nests
- Green roofs and wetland areas
So far, over 10,000 trees and shrubs have already been planted, with many more to come. The Miyawaki forests are growing rapidly, wildflowers are blooming, bees are arriving, and even hares and deer have already found a home in the new habitats. Bird nests were completed in time for the breeding season, ensuring immediate use by local species.
Currently, the wetland and green roof areas are in the design phase, while field execution progresses on-site. Our key partners in this meaningful work are Maschinenring Magyarország Kft. and the University of Debrecen.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of summer 2025. With it, we aim to make one of our most impactful contributions in the region: rebuilding nature in the most natural way possible.
THINK SUSTAINABLE, ACT RESPONSIBLE.
