BOHO Hotel Budapest 4-star

HOTEL DEVELOPMENT

Contemporary Elegance in the Palace District

BoHo Hotel Budapest is a proud member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World network. Situated in one of the most beautiful areas of downtown Budapest – the Palace District – this property marks our second hotel development for GCA Architects, following the 5-star KOZMO Hotel. Securing this new commission was a valued confirmation for us that the attention, expertise, and high standards we represent are not only our core principles but also recognised by our clients.
The project transformed a long-neglected, 19th-century eclectic-style listed building into a refined boutique hotel, seamlessly connected to a newly constructed modern wing extending towards Szentkirályi Street. The Spanish architectural concept creates a unique harmony between historic charm and contemporary elegance, both in the exterior and interior design.

Navigating Challenges
Our involvement began in the design phase, with Realiscon responsible for comprehensive project management and technical supervision through to the hotel’s handover. Construction started in 2018 as planned, but the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 forced an unexpected halt, prompting the hotel owners to reassess the investment.
After careful consideration, GCA Architects decided to resume and complete the development in 2023 – a decision that proved excellent, as the finished property has become a remarkable jewel in this already vibrant neighbourhood.
During the project, we supervised the full restoration of the listed building, ensuring every detail stayed faithful to the original design. One of the greatest challenges was coordinating a diverse, international team of designers and contractors – a task we met with attentive communication and process alignment. This ensured that the architectural harmony between the heritage section and the new contemporary wing was achieved not only in appearance but also in execution.
Our responsibilities included managing the demolition of a dilapidated building on Szentkirályi Street, overseeing the construction of the new wing, directing the heritage restoration process, and supervising all finishing works. Beyond these core tasks, we delivered utility network upgrades for the client and represented their interests at public forums, successfully addressing and resolving sensitive issues that arose.

Spacious Comfort Meets Distinctive Style
The completed hotel spans more than 5,000 sqm and offers 52 elegant rooms and 12 luxurious suites, each more spacious than typical city hotel standards.
One of the property’s most exceptional features is its stunning inner courtyard, dominated by two magnificent trees. This green oasis is not only a visual centrepiece but also a natural habitat for birds, making it a unique sanctuary within the city.
The heritage wing houses a stylish lobby bar, too. Guests can enjoy two restaurant terraces – one facing the lively Mikszáth Kálmán Square, and the other tucked into the peaceful courtyard garden beneath the plane tree’s canopy.
Additional facilities include a mini-spa, fitness centre, and underground parking. The new building’s six floors are home to guest rooms with luxurious interiors, where floor-to-ceiling windows flood the spaces with natural light.
