Lauder Javne School
SCHOOL EXTENSION
New Spaces for the Next Generation
In 2019, the Lauder Javne School decided to expand its original 1996 building, designed by Csaba Virág and Judit Z. Halmágyi, to further enhance the quality of its educational environment. Based on the concept of TIBA Architects Studio, a new wing was created that connects harmoniously with the existing building, the terrain, and the surrounding nature. The extension provides six modern classrooms and a gymnasium with related service areas. Partly embedded in the hillside, the new unit is directly linked to the gymnasium wing and the existing large sports hall on multiple levels, adding a net 1,236 m² to the school.
From Preparation to Completion
Realiscon was entrusted with design management, cost management, project management, and technical supervision. The project began in 2019 with planning coordination and preparation, which proved essential to delivering the extremely tight one-year construction schedule (June 2022 – June 2023). The school remained fully operational throughout, which significantly shaped scheduling and organization: major works such as excavation were carried out during the summer break, while during the academic year construction proceeded in carefully separated zones with heightened safety measures to ensure uninterrupted education.
An Award-Winning Result
The extension provides a modern environment for around 144 students with six new classrooms (each for 22 students), a gymnasium, a teachers’ room, storerooms, and changing rooms. The architectural quality of the project has been nationally recognized: in 2024 it received the FIABCI Hungarian Real Estate Development Award in the education category. The success is the outcome of meticulous preparation, precise execution under strict deadlines, and the effective collaboration of all project participants.
