Renewed Industrial Heritage

The reinforced concrete oil unloading jetty in Almásfüzitő was built in the 1920s and still plays a crucial role in the operations of MOL-LUB Ltd. Its function is to receive base oil shipped by barge from Százhalombatta and, with the help of pumps, transfer it to the processing plant. With 1,000–1,500 tons of base oil passing through this point every week, the reliability of the structure is indispensable to the company’s lubricant production process.
Realiscon acted as technical supervisor throughout the entire renovation process. Following the initial condition assessment, the refurbishment included the reinforcement of the concrete structure, underwater concreting works, as well as the modernization of the control container and control systems.
A particular challenge was to carry out the works under fluctuating Danube water levels while the jetty remained in continuous operation. As a result of the reconstruction, this nearly century-old industrial facility can now continue to serve safely as one of the most important logistics hubs of domestic lubricant production.
