September 9 marked another step toward the effective application of the EU Taxonomy.
Realiscon’s sustainability expert Katalin Józsa is an active member of the EU Taxonomy Working Group of the Hungary Green Building Council (HuGBC), which plays an important role in interpreting and adapting the framework. Since its launch in 2020, the working group has developed EU Taxonomy guidelines tailored to the Hungarian market and continues to align them with new environmental objectives and national legislation.
The EU Taxonomy is a sustainable finance framework supporting the EU’s 2050 climate-neutrality goals. It defines six environmental objectives, including climate change mitigation, climate adaptation, circular economy, sustainable use of water resources, and biodiversity protection.
On September 9, a practice-oriented workshop titled “EU Taxonomy in the Real Estate Sector” was held in Budapest. The event offered professionals from the construction and financial sectors practical insight into applying the EU Taxonomy through examples adapted to the Hungarian context. Among the presentations, Katalin Józsa outlined the requirements for climate adaptation, and participants also received detailed updates on climate change mitigation and the circular economy.
In addition, HuGBC provides training programs and learning materials and has launched a certification scheme to support the practical use of the Taxonomy in the real estate market.
We are proud to contribute to the adaptation of the EU sustainability framework in Hungary, helping to strengthen the development of a more sustainable built environment.
