Development of a C–17 Training Facility
One of the most distinctive areas of expertise at Realiscon is the development of aircraft simulator centers. Thanks to our high-level competence and NATO Supplier qualification, we had
the opportunity to contribute to a remarkable project: the construction of a C–17 training facility at the 47th Air Base in Pápa – also known as the “Panther” base.
The architectural design was provided by Óbuda Építész Stúdió, while the main contractor was Strabag MML. Realiscon was responsible for Technical Supervision, Cost Control, HSE Management, and Quality Management throughout the project.
Previously, we delivered civil simulator center projects in Budapest and Rome for a commercial airline. This time, however, our clients were the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) and the NATO Airlift Management Program Office (NAM PO). The facility is part of the Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC) program, which provides world-class military airlift capacity to 12 member nations.
The Pápa C–17 simulator project was launched in 2023. The newly built 1,438 m² facility features a 14-meter-high simulator bay, complemented by a single-story wing that accommodates the operational area, simulator offices, and training and briefing rooms for personnel.
From an environmental perspective, the center also stands out. A high-performance solar panel system installed on the roof, combined with a heat pump system for heating and cooling, ensures sustainable operation. In addition, electric vehicle charging stations are available in the parking area to support the unit’s fleet.
The project is now approaching completion. This was not our first simulator center development – and we are confident it will not be the last.
